Almond milk was the most widely used shelf stable liquid in many kitchens. Come and learn how to make it yourself, what is available in the store today and how it differs from homemade. Included in this will be a taste testing of both fresh made almond milk and various commercially produced types. We will be discussing when substituting works and when it doesn’t and sampling food created with both to show differences. No

American Sign Language: Fifteen must know phrases in the SCA - Blah of the Bald Ears
We will instruct commonly used phrases in the SCA to approach the subject of conceptually rather than semantic based sign language. Participants can have any level of knowledge and are welcome to suggest any phrases they would like to learn. No age limit, but there is a potential for topics related to sexuality and alcohol. Artisans' Playtime - Organized by Lady Katla Ulfheddin.
Please join the artisans of AEthelmearc for an afternoon of art! The theme for this year is playtime. Come explore and learn something new or rejuvenate interest in an art from long ago. Our artisans have generously volunteered their time and have brought projects for you to come, play and learn. Interested in the scribal arts? Stop by and paint a blank for the Kingdom. Maybe you fancy fiber arts? From beginning with raw fibers, learn how to spin, how to weave or knit. These are just two examples of the diverse arts and sciences awaiting discovery. Basic Kumihimo on the Marudai - Lady Hara
The class will teach basic concepts of braiding, review the equipment marudai and tama, and show one or two
8- strand braids. The teacher will work individually with people as they try to do the braid on already set up

Beginning Wire Weaving - Baroness Betha Symonds
This class will teach beginners to make chains in the style of those made in the Viking era (and throughout other times). Can't afford those sumptuous brocades you see courtiers wearing? Can't find the fabric in the right pattern for you next outfit? Don't despair, make custom printed fabric! The class will discuss historical technique and use, as well as how to design a pattern and print on fabric. No limit, no fee.

Consorts' Gallery Maitresse - Yvianne de Castel d'Avignon
Consorts of any experience or rank are cordially invited to enjoy the Consorts Gallery on the battlefield near the MoL tent. Join with other consorts and explore the role of the lady in the tournament, both in period and in the SCA. Through our involvement in recreating the times of the Middle Ages, its natural to develop a curiosity about our own family's links to and involvement in the events of the medieval period. This class is for the Scadian who is interested in researching their mundane origins. Getting knotty in the Viking Age: Naalbinding for True Beginners - Mistress Marsi of Hadley
We will learn 2 or three basic Naalbinding knots including the Oslo Stitch, The Danish Stitch and stitching in the round. We will begin by using rope to practice knotting, then move to wool yarn. Introduction to Labyrinths, Parts I & II - Lord Ambros Kyrielle
It matters not if you are Tudor or Turk, Norseman or Nepalese, Breton or Borgia, Labyrinths are a part of your world. Topics covered will include: "What IS a Labyrinth?" ;Categories and types; How to draw one; and a Whirlwind tour of Labyrinths in Period. Japanese Paper Boxes - Maistreas Aidan ni Leir
The Japanese have a way with paper, and since the Edo period, they have been harnessing its unique properties to create paper boxes. Students will make four boxes in this class that can be put to many uses, especially wrapping gifts. Younger children welcome with parent/guardian. Paternosters, Rosaries and Payres of Beades - Maistreas Aidan ni Leir
Learn to flout sumptuary laws with the utmost piety. This is a hands-on class; students will make their choice of one of the many common styles of beads common among all ages, genders and classes in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Limit of 12, $3-$8 materials fee, depending on your choice of style and materials.

Pimp My Sewing Basket - Lady Marian of Blackwood
Tired of rooting through your sewing basket getting stuck with pins, tangled messes of threads and stuff? Want to look a little more period and organized and not be embarrassed when you open your basket to pull out your work at events? If you do this is the class for you. I've designed an organizing system that will fit most portable sewing baskets and items to help you contain and care for your tools. Also included are an overview of sewing tools used in period and modern equivalents and how to disguise them, plus a list of sources for sewing tools both modern and period. The Evolution of Tack - Shoshida Tora Gozen
This class will focus on the way horse tack (or furniture which includes saddles, bridles, bits, etc) has evolved through time from the Middle Ages to the present day. The emphasis will be on applying this knowledge to designing equestrian equipment for use in the SCA that is both historically accurate and safe. 1 hour. No limit, handout $1. The New Rules for the Knowledgeable Herald - Lady Marie de Blois
This class is aimed at those who are already quite familiar with the current Rules for Submission and at least generally familiar with precedent. This class will give you the rundown on all the changes between the current rules and the proposed new ones. This class will be presented in terms of the changes - attendees should know what terms like 'X.4.j.ii' and 'Documented Exceptions' mean already - and aimed at getting current heralds up to speed quickly. drills. There is no specific emphasis on historical examples, but instead is based on nearly 30 years of SCA combat. Torvaldr has served as a unit commander, army flank commander, Royal body guard, Baronial war leader, senior marshal and training marshal.
